Thank You
Thank you for the mountains standing firm
Like majestic monuments
Crowning the earth
Beneath a sunny sky.
Thank you for the Grand Canyon,
Great Barrier Reef, Mt. Everest,
Niagara Falls and the Northern Red Sea.
The Pagodas, Taj Mahal, and the Great Wall of China
Illuminating your greatness and omnipotent power.
Thank you for human form
A masterpiece of creation
Moving from place to place
Without hesitation.
Most precious are the men and women
Whose blood stains every shore
Fighting for the gift of freedom
Unable to speak anymore.
Thank you for these soldiers of war
Thank you for their courage and dedication
Thank you for their loyalty and honor
Thank you for their personal sacrifice of family and friends.
Thank you for these soldiers of war
Unable to speak anymore.
Thank you, Thank you,
A million times thank you.
Thank you for those
unable to speak anymore!
A Prayer Will Do
When you're in doubt about which way to go
This way—that way—simply don't know.
May I suggest that you fall to your knees and
Whisper a prayer for God to intercede.
Hopelessness and despair doesn't drag Him down
Rather enjoys what appears profound.
Mere problems to resolve
Nothing to big—Nothing to small.
Day or Night one can always get through
Only requirement
Is a prayer from you.
Stay A While
Sitting by the fireplace on the eve of a Winter's night,
Having a cup of coffee...
Staring out the window at the trunk of a twisted tree,
Craving desperately for your presence to comfort me.
Winter is twice as long...
When loneliness is your friend.
Keeping what you feel inside
Piercing your very soul.
Stay a while, Stay a while,
Can't believe you're gone!
A thousand goodbyes won't convince me
that you're really, really dead.
A treasure chest of memories locked inside my head.
Stay a while, Stay a while,
Can't believe you're gone.
Pieces of dreams fragmented together,
Lingering and haunting me wherever I go,
Missing you, Wanting you
Every day of the year.
Pondering a thousand reasons,
Why I won't let you go.
Stay a while, Stay a while,
And share my cup of coffee,
Or would you rather have a glass of tea
With lemon on the side...
Stay a while and don't leave me...
At least not today.
Windows of My Heart
When I see you in the morning
as I start my day...
Hoping always hoping you will look my way.
The pane glass window hides my face...
keeping hidden in my heart what I long to say.
If you would only look my way.
Often I imagine
you whispering in my ear...
Plans for us to marry...Perhaps next year.
Then like a jolt of lightning
I awaken to my dismay...
Only to discover
I was dreaming...simply dreaming...of a special day.
If you would only look my way
I've so much to say.
You speak with such kindness toward family and friends
Yet made no effort to inquire of my name.
How long will I cling to this secret of mine...
Yearning desperately for a moment in time
To spend with a friend below my window pane.
There aren't enough words to express how I feel
Just one look towards my window sill.
If you would only look my way,
I've so much to say.
Hallelujah
Prison is a wasteland
Where human flesh decays
Meaningless deprivation
Appeals and continuous delays.
Physical senses dull, emotions start to fade
While the spirit slowly wanes.
As life slips away from this hallowed frame
Prepares to greet the day
When misery and grief
Come to its final end.
There's a shout of "hallelujah"
My debt is finally paid!
Prison is a wasteland
Where death is a welcome friend!
Eggs and Bacon
The morning breeze that caresses your face...
Such beauty is well taken.
And though this may sound silly
You're like my eggs and bacon.
The way you call my name,
Your presence in a room,
The way you say "good night."
You can't imagine the immeasurable joy
You've brought into my life.
This overwhelming sense of awe
is much too much to bear.
Knowing that you love me...
Knowing that you care.
Just like eggs and bacon,
we're such an ideal pair.
You make me feel important
every moment of the day.
I pray this love will always last
cause you're my eggs and bacon.
My Buddy
You've always been my faithful friend
When times were good and bad
Showing that you care
When I was very sad.
No one could be more loyal
And understanding too.
The times I had no money
You always came through.
Remember when you paid my rent
And saw to it that I had food.
Quite often on the verge of tears
Everyday you'd call...
To give a bit of cheer.
Over the years I've learned a lot
On what it means to be a friend
You were the best role model.
I hope that I can be as much to you,
As what you've meant to me.
My Buddy, My Pal, My Friend!
My Best Friend Passed Away
Throw away the clocks, turn off the music and stop the singing,
my best friend has passed away.
As people pass me on the street,
I turn to the left and turn to my right
Looking to see if you're in sight.
I dare not show my agony to a world
who fails to understand my loss.
Silence is my cloak, loneliness my shield
Hiding the bitterness I feel.
Today my best friend passed away.
Three Pearls
Fishing along the seashore
As the light of moon gave way
Ripples of water hit the boat
The flapping sound of a catfish
Caught struggling in my net.
To my surprise a satchel
Stuck firmly in its mouth
Three glistening pearls
Fell gently on the deck below.
A flash of lightening, gust of wind
Brought rain to this small boat.
Returning home to ponder
This treasure of delight
Three pearls I found in a fishes' mouth
What God has brought this night.
Praise Him
The majesty of His presence
Forever made known,
Through all of creation.
Praise God in the universe
For all He has done.
Look upon the Dandelion
What do you see?
Unlimited power and divine beauty.
Praise Him with song
Praise Him with tears
Praise Him with instruments
As He dispels all fears.
Praise Him in the car
Praise Him on the bus
Praise Him on the way to work
wherever you are.
God of creation,
Thou art worthy of my praise.
Divine Light
You give light to my pathway
And I walk without fear,
Through life's bitter storms
without shedding a tear.
I welcome the joy in a life that's to come,
To look upon my Savior in his glory divine,
Awed by His majesty to worship and seek
unfathomable love and eternal peace.
Why would this God love a person like me?
Behind Closed Doors
Today there is an awful sound...
I've never heard before.
Like voices pleading from a grave...
So desperate to be heard.
Behind closed doors these voices say,
"Daddy shot my brother...
My sister was snatched from her comfortable bed
and strangled by my mother."
These victims are so very young...
Slaughtered like lambs in a butcher's shop.
Mothers against daughters and fathers against sons.
Some way, some how, we must protect...
the children who live behind these doors
from an evil and perverse generation,
seeking to destroy their souls.
Or face the consequences for failure to hear the tearful cries...
Of children in all the world who met an untimely death...
Leaving only a sweet fragrance from where they once slept.
Strange As It Seems
Strange as it seems...
I want to share my dreams
with someone, anyone, I don't know.
Perhaps, the stranger at the grocery store.
Strange as it seems I want to explore...
Places not seen before.
Want to believe there's a reason to be...
a purpose for my identity.
Strange as it seems...
Need to overcome this rage within...
and come to terms with my sin.
Yearning to touch and feel again...
experience life before it ends.
Strange as it seems...
Need you to listen and understand my pain...
and maybe, just maybe, healing will come, renew and restore
a broken heart through loves open door.
Mama
I apologize mama cause I'm always on the run,
Seldom call to say just how much I love you.
So I won't make any excuses or choose to hesitate
Why I wasn't there on special holidays.
Although it's hard to say just how I really feel
For all the support and friendship
you've given me with zeal.
I want to share this moment with everyone in the world.....
One thousand times I say,
I love you "my dear mama" in every possible way.
America
Flags raised high for all to see
A proclamation of liberty
There's no place I'd rather be.
Slavery, racism and bigotry are part of America's history.
Nowhere in the world can you worship in peace,
vote democratic and denounce the establishment
under the amendment of free speech.
Humankind of every color, nationality and creed
live in America land of the free.
Women, children and even dogs have rights.
No other place could this possibly be...
except in America land of the free.
Earthquakes, tornadoes, floods and typhoons
tear down buildings leaving destruction and gloom.
But in the face of Mother Nature, Americans still stand,
shouting to their God, "We will build again!"
Hooray for America...
who's known across the sea...
for battles fought in protest
on behalf of freedom struggles and human dignity.
